Three Wise Men from the East...

The Magi are popularly referred to as wise men and kings. According to the Gospel of Matthew, the Magi found Jesus by 'following' a star, which thus traditionally became known as the Star of Bethlehem.

On finding him, they gave him three symbolic gifts: gold, frankincense and myrrh. Warned in a dream that Judean king Herod intended to kill the child, they decided to return home by a different route. This prompted Herod to resort to killing all the young children in Bethlehem, an act called the Massacre of the Innocents, in an attempt to eliminate a rival heir to his throne. Jesus and his family had, however, escaped to Egypt beforehand. After these events they passed into obscurity. The story of the nativity in Matthew glorifies Jesus, likens him to Moses, and shows his life as fulfilling prophecy.

So, for this challenge, I thought it would be good to make it into an ornament for the tree instead of the usual card. :0) I know, it's kind of BIG but it looks great!

It was kind of tricky. I used a Lead Sticker and slowly cut the insides one at a time to show the different colours. But the end results are always satisfying despite the challenge!

Stickers which work like Stained Glass.
Slowly cut piece by piece.

Add different coloured papers as you go along.

1st Stage complete!

Now, for the embellishing. :)

Use a silver wire to curl the hanger.

Less Is More - Week 88 Colour

When I came across this site, I was attracted to the theme - SILVER.

Immediately, my mind started wandering. :) Silver bells, Silver Words....Then I thought of making a Wedding Card. Since we use these colours frequently with Wedding Stationeries, Cards, Decorations and so on...

But on the other hand, I am currently on Christmas Mode. And as I was sitting with my thinking cap on, the song Silver bells by Bing Crosby came on. How timely...

So, here's my card! Hope you enjoyed your visit here.

Have a Blessed Weekend! *hugs*

2012 Christmas Card Challenge Week #45

Ahh... don't you  just love the feeling? It's just 74 days to Christmas. Oh my! And I haven't even got down to doing crafts for gifts!

I have been so taken in on these card challenges, I have yet to set time to make gifts! I wanted to make some gifts for my nieces and nephew this year for Christmas to cut down cost of spending. You know, Christmas is the time where we tend to spend a whole-lotta money.Oh well, must find time.:)

For this challenge, I made a card using the circle blister to give that "shaker' card feeling. I don't own that many stamps. Most of my cards are done the ole' way...Copy, Cut and Paste! Lolz

Well, Glad the card came out pretty good. :) I have also entered this card for Hero Arts Holiday cardmaking. and WCMD 2012 Challenge 1: Holiday Greetings with Julie Ebersole

Hope you enjoyed your visit here! Have a blessed day!
*hugs*

Caring Hearts Card Drive

CALLING ALL CARD MAKERS!!!

Hi all. The holiday season is almost here! Its my favourite time of the year. For this coming season I wanted to do something different. I just love and enjoy doing stuffs to give back to society.

A few days back, I was browsing through the net for Card Challenges to participate in and by chance I happen to drop by this wonderful site and it caught my eyes.

Vera Yates (Ling) of  Ling's Design Studio will be organising the annual Caring Hearts Card Drive for the 3rd year! She has been collecting holiday cards for the elderly who are currently residing in nursing homes to bring some love and joy to them.

As we all know, the holiday seasons are about family, kindness, and spreading the joy of goodwill. During this time many of the elderly who lives in nursing homes would really feel the loneliness or missing their family. Wouldn't it be so awesome if we can bring a smile to their face and brighten their holiday season simply by sharing our love of card making? A simple gesture to let them know that they are not forgotten.

So, what better way to do your part? Lend in your support in joining Ling reach as many nursing homes as possible and continue to spread more joy.! :)

We all love making cards and what’s better than knowing our creations can bring a smile to others? I hope that many of you will help out in the effort to spread joy and cheer.

There will be others who have agreed to lend their support to Ling in delivering the cards to selected nursing homes.

A few important details:

In each package, PLEASE include a piece of paper with your name, address, email address and how many cards you sent. This helps in keeping track for prizes! For each card you send, you will get a chance. So the more cards you send, the better your chances.

To thank you for your generosity in supporting this drive, Ling have several PRIZES ready for several winners. There will be many winners and remember… the more cards you send the better your chances. :)
